Disney’s favorite brother and sister, Sharpay and Ryan have a unique and close bond filled with so much creativity and showtime dazzle.

Sharpay Evans

Sharpay Evans is the main antagonist in the first two High School Musical films, along with her brother Ryan. Sharpay radiates queen bee and rules East High and dominates the theater scene at school. Sharpay has a deep desire to be a star and has been doing everything possible to pursue her famous career aspirations. Sharpay and Ryan are the only two from the movies who actually wanted to pursue a career in acting, rather than just pursue it as a hobby. Sharpay has always had a crush on Troy and sees them as a power couple, but through the trilogy becomes linked to Zeke who bakes for her!

Ryan Evans

Ryan Evans always wears fedoras! If there is one thing you need to know about Ryan it is that he is a hat king and wears bold outfits at all times. Ryan is Sharpay’s twin brother and often lives in her shadow, doing her dirty work. As the trilogy progresses, Ryan learns to become more of his own person, speak for himself, and become a huge Wildcat fan. Ryan takes fellow thespian Kelsi Neilsen to prom, after they bond over music crafting and theater. Ryan has a love for acting, serving as co-president of the drama club, but is also talented choreographer and ends up getting an offer from Julliard in their choreography department.

The staple characters of the series: Troy and Gabriella. Without these two and their love for each other this movie would be nonexistent. Let’s get to know them!

Troy Bolton

Troy Bolton is arguably the main character of the High School Musical trilogy. He is a basketball all-star from East High and the captain of the Wildcat team. His best friend is Chad Danforth and have been friends since preschool. Troy has a charismatic personality with handsome looks, talent, smarts, and responsibility that makes him idolized by all. Troy is the boyfriend of Gabriella Montez and grew up in a happy home, with his dad pushing him to grow and coaching him through basketball. His dad is also his basketball coach. Troy Bolton is portrayed by Zac Efron.

Gabriella Montez

Gabriella Montez is the second place leading character in this movie trilogy. Gabriella is a transfer student to East High and is known for being the smartest girl in school. Gabriella is ALL brains! She is an only child and is very warm and inviting to everyone she goes to school with. Gabriella can be shy at first, but once she finds her people she really comes out of her shell and even stars in multiple musicals! Gabriella chose Stanford University for college, studying law, so the girl got game! Gabrielle is portrayed by Vanessa Hudgens.

These songs are all phenomenal and are all my favorites for different reasons. If I had to pick a top one or two from each movie as my favorites, these are my choices:

High School Musical: Bop to the Top, Breaking Free

High School Musical 2: Bet On It

High School Musical 3: Senior Year: Scream

High School Musical is quiet possibly the best movie to have every graced our presence. It is such a dynamic movie full of love and drama and songs and dance. The dance scenes are phenomenal, thanks to choreographer Kenny Ortega, and the songs are so catchy you are bound to find yourself singing along!

Do you like drama? This movies got the drama! The dynamic between Sharpay and Gabriella, along with the other Wildcats, is constantly stirring up a dramatic plot line. In the first movie, Sharpay works to defend “her” musical from outsiders, but the Wildcats work harder to defy the status quo and not just stick to what they know. In the second movie, Sharpay works harder to try to defend her country club’s fabulous talent show and also help get Troy some special opportunities in jobs and sports. In the third movie, the drama revolves around all of the cast, specifically Troy and Gabriella, as they make big decisions about their future and college that make them want to scream! This movie is packed with drama, so who wouldn’t love it?!

Do you like love? This movies got the love! From the beginning of the first movie, Troy and Gabriella begin to develop a relationship that lasts through all three movies and goes through a wide variety of trials and joys. Their romance is one that you can’t help but find yourself feeling like this is what you have been looking for, or perhaps you’ll think about them every day. Throughout the series, other romantic interests develop too, like between Chad and Taylor, as they get ready for prom. So, this movie is packed with so many love stories, who wouldn’t love it?!

Do you like a good song and dance? Everybody loves a good jazz square. Perhaps, arguably, the best part of the movie series, is the dynamic and captivating song and dance scenes! Every song is a classic, every dance becomes a trend. Whether you are learning how to dance to We’re All in this Together or belting out the Gotta Go My Own Way ballad you are guaranteed to smile! This movie is packed with song and dance, who wouldn’t love it?!

These are just a few reasons that High School Musical is the absolute best. I hope you are interested enough to stay around each week as I dive deeper into the glory that is High School Musical! Yeah, we’re gonna bop to the top! We’re breaking free!!
